There’s more to Tenerife than its coastline. Its interior is dotted with banana plantations, traditional villages and national parks. Take a trip to the centre of the island, and you’ll discover Mount Teide, the third largest volcano in the world. It’s surrounded by an unearthly landscape of solid lava.
Declared a national park in 1954, the Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide includes an enormous volcanic crater 30 miles (48 km) in circumference, out of which rises Mount Teide at a staggering 12,200 feet (3,718 metres), making it the highest peak in the whole of Spain.

Driving up to the national park is an interesting experience; from the sunny south coast you drive up towards a town called Vilaflor with its alpine-like scenery. As you travel higher still above the clouds, the terrain changes dramatically and suddenly becomes an amazing lunar landscape.

One of the key attractions in the town, the House of the Balconies gives tourists a great insight into traditional Canarian culture and ways of life. The 17th century mansion was built for the marriage union between Juana Nieto  and Juan de Castro Bazo y Merino in 1657 and is a fine example of high class society and Spanish architecture with ornate wooden balconies enveloping a picturesque pebble-dashed courtyard. The ground floor is a mixture of craft and souvenir shops were visitors can watch craftspeople weave top quality Canarian lace, as well as having to the option to buy the reasonably priced linen, pottery, food and wines. Entrance to the museum upstairs costs €2, where visitors can witness what life was like for the Canarian aristocracy in the 17th century and also view Tenerife in a past age.

Tenerife Pearl - is home to 1,500 square meters of pearl jewellery and over 2,000,000 pearls! Brought to you from all corners of the world, our extensive range of pearl jewellery is thoughtfully displayed in our outlets in Tenerife..

Amarilla Golf is one of life's hidden gems, probably the best Tenerife golf course, it hosted a round of the PGA European tour in 1990; designed by Donald Steel in the late nineteen eighties it features an imaginatively designed golf course sandwiched between the bright blue Atlantic Ocean and Spain's highest mountain, the majestic El Teide. Playing golf in Tenerife in mid winter wearing just shorts and polo shirt with the sun reflecting off the water and with the often snow capped peak of El Teide in the opposite direction can compensate for almost any amount of duffed shots.
